Lassiter Tennis Dues Rebate Opportunity
Feb 23, 2013, 2:34 pm

Most parents hate sending their kids door to door peddling unwanted products like coffee or candy—especially when the product marketers generally end up with half or more of the proceeds. That’s why our Lassiter Tennis Booster Club (LTBC) board has decided to partner with an organization called “OurFund” that helps groups like ours meet fundraising goals.

OurFund’s approach involves no selling. It doesn’t require us to keep track of inventory, collect money or meet quotas. Perhaps most importantly, OurFund transfers 80% of campaign proceeds to the participating club

In turn, we have decided to rebate 25% of the funds raised by a participating family through OurFund to that family (assuming the family’s dues are fully paid).

The idea behind OurFund is simple: let your friends, neighbors and loved ones know about the lack of school or county funding for tennis at Lassiter and ask them to donate. Tapping into the network of each team member’s family has helped hundreds of groups like ours raise thousands of dollars in a matter of weeks, 10 to 20 dollars at a time.

Current LTBC Vice President Connie Littke-Smith is coordinating with varsity coaches Lisa Chase and Wylie Brown to kick off the OurFund campaign for our booster club. (Thank you, Connie!) Please look for an email from them soon.

In the meantime we look forward to seeing you at the courts!

Sell 3 Bricks in 2013!
Feb 23, 2013, 2:32 pm

Help us beef up our 2013 tennis banquet budget by selling 3 commemorative bricks before school is out for this summer. Please help us spread the word that our engraved bricks aren’t just for tennis players. Encourage other Lassiter families to purchase bricks to honor their students' participation in other high school sports, or in groups like Lassiter Chorus, DECA and drama club.

We will be submitting a proposal to Athletic Director Art O’Neill to extend our brick walkway to the stadium area. This will offer greater visibility for students participating in sports and activities other than tennis and, we hope, make the bricks easier to sell.

If you haven’t yet bought an engraved brick to commemorate your son or daughter’s participation in Lassiter tennis, please do so! Then help your student sell at least 2 more. Remember, they make great graduation gifts. They also offer local businesses an affordable way to support Lassiter.

Dues Lowered to $350 for 2013!
Jan 29, 2013, 7:22 pm

Good News! With the new tennis courts completed and almost paid off in 2012, we have decided to lower dues from $400 per player to $350 per player in 2013.

If you haven't done so already, please send your dues check to Lassiter Tennis Booster Club Treasurer Neil Gottenberg, 3935 Upland Way, Marietta, GA 30066. Direct any dues- or budget-related questions to Neil via email (neil@gottenberg.net) or phone (770-316-0992 cell or 770-565-6765 home).

As tennis is a nonrevenue sport, the program receives very little financial assistance through the school. For this reason all operating expenses are funded through player fees. The $350 financial commitment being asked of each player's parent/guardian this year covers expenses including:

  • 1 uniform and 1 practice t-shirt
  • Tennis balls for all varsity and JV home matches
  • Misc. tennis equipment for practices and conditioning
  • Player's meal at end-of-season banquet
  • Entree and drinks for athletes at all home matches
  • End-of-season gifts for players and coaches
  • Annual contribution toward facility maintenance

Costs not covered through player fees include:

  • Team warm-ups
  • Miscellaneous spirit wear (e.g., t-shirts, sweatshirts, fleece jackets) for players and parents
  • Player snacks and transportation costs on your assigned transportation days
  • Side items, desserts, etc., on your assigned home match 'food days'
  • Parent or other family member meals for end-of-season banquet

Stay tuned for more info on this year's fundraising opportunities that can trigger dues 'rebates' for all players whose dues are paid in full.
